the wound is the crack
that penetrates through
the heart of us
who among us has not been
pierced in that place
of vulnerability and light
we mend our hearts
with our inner flame
that burns with the truth
of its own rising
for the heart is the altar
upon which we offer
our innocence
time and time again
the heart is the doorway
that links us in our human experience
across the spectrum of love and loss
when we enter,
all of our broken parts,
in a wabi-sabi embrace,
are made whole again,
all the howling babies,
soothed.
