My Peace Lily Blooming is a Good Sign

I’m fairly certain that the DNA of my plant is older than humans. Like many people, this is a bisexual plant. The shell flower is female and the stamen is male.

Peace lily (officially called Spathiphyllum) is a member of the Araceae (Arum) family and grows in the tropical rainforests of Colombia and Venezuela. The plant was introduced into Europe in 1870. Over 50 different cultivars are known, which virtually all have white bracts with the occasional slight green tinge.
